Ford Wind Tunnel 8
Wind tunnel testing of the aerodynamics of RIT Racing's F32 Formula SAE car

In an effort to validate the aero package and our CFD procedure for the car, we brought it to Ford's Wind Tunnel 8, the quietest wind tunnel in the world, and examined the flow using a smoke wand, laser sheet flow visualization, and yarn. We also collected data on downforce and drag, measured using scales on the floor. This experience was incredibly valuable for me and the team, as it provided great insight into what worked well, what could be changed, and whether CFD procedure produced results that matched real life.
